Racism is woven through the many systems which black, indigenous and people of color must rely on for their livelihoods. The impact and narrative of this conflict becomes embodied and held in the nervous system.  This training will explore the impact of systemic racism on the bodies of people of color.

Somatic Experiencing and polyvagal concepts will be used to examine the impact of racial trauma on embodied threat responses. Participants will learn ways to assist clients of color in exploring the shame, invisibility and relational trauma that stems from systemic racism while nurturing resilience and regulation.

This training also includes discussion of concepts such as racial dissociation, ancestral and cultural trauma, the embodiment of oppression. Somatic healing methods & exercise will be explored.
