Course Description:
This training and conversation will include an examination of the ways in which some of the current views of trauma and models of therapy struggle to meet the needs of people of color and other oppressed populations. Becky will explore ways to shift to a more humanizing and embodied approach to client care. She asserts that racial trauma can only be addressed within a therapeutic relationship that is non-oppressive and will present a therapeutic model that is decolonizing, cultivates embodied liberation, and the nervous system's need for rest. She will discuss elements of anti-capitalist therapy and ways to support community in trauma work
Learning Objectives:
Understand negative impact of current capitalist views on bodies of color.
Identify decolonizing therapeutic methods.
Gain awareness of embodied liberation
