Course Description: Elements of grief weave their way through our lives
and our bodies as we navigate different experiences of loss.
Whether anticipated, sudden, cultural, ancestral, societal, or existential, each loss takes shape within us as we move through life amidst the ongoing experience of death and grief. In this training, participants will explore how to support themselves and their clients in the exploration of the embodiment of grief and its impact on the nervous system.
Participants will also learn methods of recognizing and nurturing embodied resourcing as a way of enduring the current of grief with courage and curiosity. Becky will discuss traumatic themes that emerge in loss and losses that result from trauma-related experiences. She will support the need to decolonize grief by honoring collective and communal healing, expression amidst oppression grief related anger, and loss of safety and land for indigenous communities. Attendees will have an opportunity to reflect on how their own experience with loss impacts capacity to be an embodied support and witness to their client's grief.
